Gamble Responsibly !
Online gambling is dangerous. It's more dangerous than land based gambling because
it comes into your house. It requires no effort. And no-one can see you.
A lot of online casinos like to justify themselves by saying that by being online,
they target only people who at least have a computer , an internet subscription
and the knowledge to use it.
Yes, all of that is true. But being computer literate and having an intenet connection
does not protect you from getting addicted.
It starts out simle. You spend only a $100 a month. It's a guilty pleasure. Something
to take your mind of a problem. An escape for a couple of hours. If you are lucky,
your $100 can last for days.
So you think that while you are winning, it's not a problem because afterall you
are not spending any money. But truth be told, it's the winning that gets you addicted
and before you know it, you have gambled out everything you won, and you start trying to get it back. You made so much money of the first $100 right. It could come back
at any time. So one hundred becomes $200.
And you lose the next $100 in five minutes flat. So you check your credit card balance
and convince yourself
that you can afford to invest another $100. So you deposit
just one more hundred.
But you realise that you have now been in front of your PC for 5 hours already.
You never got around to finishing the work you promised your boss you'll have a look at tonight. So you think, you better bet bigger so you can get your money back
faster.
And instead of lasting 5 minutes like the last $100. You lose this hundred in seconds.
You know it's time to admit defeat, but there is this little voice in the back of
your mind promising that the next spin will be the big one. You just need to win
one big bet. So this time you deposit $200. Wager and lose.
The sirens of your logic is screaming for you to stop, but you can't help yourself..
You are gripped, and you can't get out. Or let's be honest. You don't really want to get out. Because you believe that you are having fun.
This is fun right?
Gambling is like the ocean, if you let your guard down for a second you might drown.
You might not even know it until it's too late.
Do I sound like I speak from experience? Yes I do. So you might
wonder , why if
I know this , do I have a gambling website?
A very valid question. Well... To be honest.. I don't know. Maybe now that I have
quit gambling, I'm still foolishly hanging on to something that connects me to that
thrill. Maybe to prove that I can abstain despite being emerged in it. I guess I hope that
you are stronger than what I was. That to you it's simply recreational fun.
But if it isn't. And you find yourself reading this page and identify with what
I said before about how it feels; then take this piece of advice from me.
QUIT. Quit now!! Right now. Not tomorrow. Not after this next spin. Right now. Cold
Turkey. That is the only way.
