If two players have exactly the same hand then the money in the pot will be split between them. If however they have the same pair, two pair or three of a kind. For example they both have a pair of Aces then the next card will determine who the winner is. Who ever has the highest card other than the pair of Aces will take the pot. This card is known as the kicker card.

When a player has a straight draw (needs one card to make a straight) and there are two possibilities and both cards is in the middle of the straight. For example in Texas Hold’em the player is holding 10,J and the first four cards on the board is 7,8,K,A then if the following card was a 9 he would have a straight 7,8,9,10,J and if the following card was a Q he would have a straight 10,J,Q,K,A. This kind of draw is known as a double belly buster.

Open ended straight draw

If the player has a straight draw and the he can get one of two cards to make a straight. The cards being on either side of the four cards he already has to make a straight.
