What's next for Online Gambling?

Trends come and go. We see it in fashion where the 30s resurfaced for a short period and in advertising where jingles are, for some unknown reason, back in favor. Resurgence and the injection of new paradigms is the backbone of popular culture. Whether it’s movies, art, music or even just everyday life – everything influences everything else in some way or another. For something to seem new, it needs a different flavor, and this flavor is often borrowed from another genre.

The burst of the digital age into our lives has opened up another dimension to popular culture. It is now possible to purchase almost anything imaginable from online merchants with nothing more than a credit card. The world is one big supermarket.

One area of exceptional growth has been the emergence of online gambling. Everything one can do at a land based casino is now possible at online casinos. They’re more convenient, more private and with the time constraints all consumers are bound by, online casinos seem to make a lot more sense. But online casinos have been around for over a decade, and due to the fact that consumers are constantly demanding something new, where do online casinos go from here?

In the past few years, with the introduction of improved graphics and higher connection speeds, real time chat and video has been added to online gambling rooms where the playing experience has become almost virtual. One area where land based casinos have the upper hand is in human interaction. New gambling software has closed this gap somewhat, but there’s still some way to go. There is no substitute for this real interaction, and there probably will never be.

Some companies have even partnered with global brands to add another dimension to their playing experience – none more successfully than software developer Cryptologic and Marvel Comics where these superheroes have been brought to life in a different way.

As trends change, so too must online casinos not only keep up with the changes but anticipate them and act before anyone else. As resistant to change as humans are, they are always – ironically – willing to try something new if it gives them an added thrill. This will be an interesting period for online gambling. The only limitation is the extent of the software developers’ imaginations.
